Cancellation letter template
Put your cancellation request in writing with the details the provider needs to find your account. This starting point works for everyday services and memberships; adapt it to the cancellation process in your agreement.
Use this free templateBefore you start
- Your name and account or membership reference.
- The service you want to cancel and your requested end date.
- A request for confirmation of the final date and any final bill.
Replace every bracketed prompt. The example is a starting point for your own letter, not a completed form or a guarantee of a particular outcome.
Example wording
Cancellation of [service or membership]
Make the letter useful
Check the cancellation route first
Look at your agreement or the provider’s help page for the notice period and accepted contact method. Some services use an online account or a specific form. A letter does not automatically override those conditions.
Be precise about what should end
If an account contains several services, name the one you want to cancel. Include the relevant reference instead of payment card details. Replace the bracketed prompts with your own facts, and add the requested end date if you know it.
Keep a copy and check the reply
Download a copy for your records. Ask the provider to confirm when the cancellation takes effect and whether anything remains to be paid. If you do not hear back, follow up through its published contact route.
Is the PDF really free?
Yes. Edit the letter and choose “Download free PDF”. There is no account or payment to download it. PostOwl only charges if you choose printing and postal delivery; the full price is shown before payment.
Can I print or email it myself?
Yes. Keep the downloaded file, print it or attach it to an email if the recipient accepts that method. The PDF is generated in your browser. Choosing postal checkout carries it to the send page, where you can review the document and address.
