HMRC Income Tax and PAYE postal address
Use this address for PAYE and Income Tax questions, including a query about a tax code or tax calculation. This is the published enquiry address for individuals, rather than an employer payroll contact.

When to use another route
Do not use this entry for employer PAYE correspondence, VAT, Corporation Tax, a formal complaint or a tax-fraud report. Follow the contact route for that subject or the instructions in your existing letter.
Postal address
Pay As You Earn and Self Assessment HM Revenue and Customs BX9 1AS United KingdomThe official department name includes Self Assessment even though this contact page covers Income Tax and PAYE. Copy the full first line and BX9 1AS; HMRC does not require a street, town or PO box.
The address will be filled in for you to review and edit. Writing and downloading a PDF are free; printing and post are paid at checkout.
Before you write
- Identify the tax year and the tax code, calculation or letter you are asking about. Describe what you believe needs checking.
- Check your personal tax account first: it may let you view your tax code and update the employment information behind it.
- Use the official guidance for a tax refund or change of personal details if that is your task. An enquiry may not replace the relevant online service or form.
Check the official instructions again before sending, especially when replying to a letter that names a different team or address.
Prepare, review and keep a copy
Write your letter online or upload a PDF. The address stays editable and you review the document, postal service and full price before paying. Keep your own copy of the final letter and any references.
PostOwl prints PDF pages and posts them from inside the UK. It cannot include original documents, cheques or other physical enclosures. Printing acceptance, postal handoff and confirmed delivery are different stages; read about postal records and proof of posting if your letter is time-sensitive.
PostOwl is an independent printing and posting service and is not affiliated with this organisation. This entry helps you find an address; it does not determine whether your letter satisfies a particular process or deadline.
